Fundamentals of Fundraising

This program will help you acquire actual training and experience with a fundraising effort or development campaign from the Association of Fundraising Professionals; the experts involved with that group will help struggling development efforts and assist you in transforming lacklustre fundraising plans. You will learn to effectively and efficiently raise funds, regardless of the size of your organization.

Professional Apartment Caretaker

With this program, you will learn the needed skills to succeed in professional residential caretaking. Take this program if you want to enter the field of residential maintenance, or if you are experienced; you will learn about property management, customer service, safety and due diligence, tenant and caretaker relations, fire prevention, and emergency response.

Applied Counseling

This program helps you develop skills and learn about aiding others in their search for healthy relationships and personal growth. It focuses on general counseling, family, youth, communications and cultural and cross-cultural issues.

Early Childhood Education

Learn the skills necessary to provide excellent quality child care in your community with this program. You will prepare to become a quality support system for families in group settings, and learn to plan learning experiences that stimulate physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of small children.

Infant and Toddler Care

This program helps you gain the needed skills to specialize in care and education of infants and small children up to about three years of age. The focus is on understanding the role of brain development during these formative years and how that creates the foundation for future development. This program is for those students that have completed an early Childhood education diploma, Competency Based Assessment (CBA), or other relevant degree.

Recreational Facilitator for Older Adults

This program will help prepare you for jobs in recreational services for older adults as well as those with disabilities. You will learn to create, implement and evaluate programs in varied settings, like nursing homes, adult care centres and private homes, along with other community programs.

Justice and Public Safety

You will acquire basic knowledge that is needed for a career in the criminal justice system by completing this program. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of a wide range of topics pertinent to the criminology and human justice field. This program explores many issues, including cultures, treatment and intervention and safety policing.

Recreation Facilitator for Older Adults

This program will prepare you for career opportunities in recreational services for people living with disabilities and the elderly. You will gain the knowledge to design, implement and evaluate programs for varied clientele in differing settings, including private homes, adult day care centres, nursing homes, assisted living and extended stay hospital facilities.

Studies in Aboriginal Child Care

You can expand your knowledge in early childhood education by becoming a specialist in Aboriginal child care. You will study focused topics and issues as they relate to the Aboriginal people of Canada, their children, families and communities. Designed for those students that have already completed Early Childhood education diplomas, Competency Based Assessment (CBA), or related degrees.

Studies in Special Needs Child Care

This program prepares you with the skills, knowledge and attitude needed to effectively work with those children who have special support needs. You will gain expertise in this field by learning about topics like: behaviour in children, working with special needs children and leading inclusion. This program is for those students that have completed an early Childhood education diploma, Competency Based Assessment (CBA), or similar degree.

Volunteer Management

You will expand your knowledge and upgrade your management skills as they pertain to volunteer programs and how they contribute to your organization with this program.  You will gain the skills needed to effectively recruit, motivate, train and manage volunteers.  This program is delivered in partnership with Volunteer North America and many of its related organizations.

Funeral Director and Embalmer

This program provides needed instruction for students to learn the skills needed to work in funeral services, and to become licensed as a funeral director or embalmer. You will learn to understand the psychology of the grieving process and belief systems, and gain key interpersonal skills that help funeral directors assist bereaved families during this process. You will learn the needed scientific and technical knowledge combined with hands-on training in embalming and restorative art. Application of relevant North American laws are key components of this program.

Applied Counseling

Educational Assistant

This program prepares you for a career working in an educational setting to support the work of teachers and assist students. This program helps you explore developmental needs of children and teaching strategies to meet those needs. The program focuses on a range of relevant topics, like inclusive education, learning characteristics, creating a supportive environment, managing behavior and professionalism.  The program includes group projects, oral presentations and written assignments.
